MAGNOLIA TABLE + their meat free breakfast guide

05-30-2018

This past weekend, my husband, mom, mother-in-law and Lennon took a day trip to Waco, TX. Eric, Lennon and I went last year in July, but haven’t been since. Since then though, Magnolia Table has opened, and we had to give it a try!

You’re a human, who can read, and knows how to navigate the internet. I’m going to go ahead and assume that you know all about the hysteria that is Chip + Joanna Gains. The Gains’ are the main reason MILLIONS of us flock to small town of Waco, TX. If you don’t know by now, they opened a restaurant called Magnolia Table, and like most of you, we’ve been wanting to try it! Luckily, we’re less than 2 hours from Waco, so a day trip there wasn’t hard to do.

The Food

Typically, it’s hard to find a breakfast spot that doesn’t have a menu loaded with eggs 10 different ways. Thankfully, Magnolia Table had several dishes that didn’t feature eggs as the main dish, (although a lot of their items have eggs in them, like pancakes, biscuits, etc..).

I personally tried everything above except the Kind Breakfast (Eric ordered that), and it was all VERY good. We didn’t wait long for food, and the service was great too! Initially, I ordered the tater tots without the parmesan, but it came out with it on. Our waitress was very prompt to take it back, but I kept it because the shavings of parmesan were VERY large, not melted and could be easily removed from the tots. As my main dish, I ordered the Avocado Toast (DUH). The wheat berry toast wasn’t as “toasty” as I typically like, but I still enjoyed it! If you need to make the toast vegan, order without the garlic aioli.

Here’s the quick run down of what we ordered-

The Experience

Magnolia Table has only been opened for around 3-4 months, but it’s ran like a well oiled machine, just like the Magnolia Market/Silos. Each staff member was knowledgable, pleasant, and seemed to do well with the INSANE amounts of guest running around.

*Some things to keep in mind

  • If you want the most enjoyable experience, GET THERE EARLY!!! The average wait time is 3-4 hours.
  • Magnolia Table is not in the same area as the Market/Silos. It’s about 5-10 [driving] minutes away.
  • If you want Magnolia Table specific items, make sure to shop at their “take away” store connected to the restaurant. You won’t be able to find Magnolia Table items at the Silos/Market.
  • Parking is free, but very limited if you arrive later in the day. I’ve read they have off site parking and a shuttle that will take you to the restaurant.
  • There is no wifi. I asked- wifi is only for the staff.
  • You can choose to sit at a community style table, or a table with just your crew. We sat at a community style one and only had 2 other people sit by us.

Overall, Magnolia Table deserves all of the hype it’s been getting. Even though we know Chip + Jo for being fixer uppers, and not foodies, their first stab at the restaurant thing gets an A in my book!
